Zhejiang confirms five coronavirus cases

East China’s Zhejiang Province confirmed five coronavirus-related pneumonia cases on Tuesday, the province’s health commission announced on its website.

The province's first confirmed case is a 46-year-old man who lived in central China's Wuhan. He drove from Wuhan to Wenzhou on January 3 and developed a fever the following day. He went to a hospital in Wenzhou on January 4 and was put into isolation on January 17.

He tested positive for the coronavirus by the local disease control and prevention authority and was confirmed as a coronavirus case after expert evaluation.

He is now in a stable condition and his close contacts are undergoing medical observation.

By 12pm on Tuesday, five cases had been confirmed across the province — one in Hangzhou, two in Wenzhou, one in Zhoushan and one in Taizhou. All the patients had either stayed, traveled in Wuhan or had close contact with people in Wuhan.

All are in a stable conditions and check of 88 close contacts had detected no respiratory symptoms.
