The 2020 Cross-Strait Youth Short Film Competition was launched on Thursday.

Now in its fourth edition, the competition, held this year under the theme of “We Love,” encourages young people in Shanghai and Taipei to tell stories about love and memorable life moments.

Each short film submitted for consideration in the contest is required to have a length under 10 minutes.

Excellent submissions will be announced on July 15 to be nominated for the finals. From August 13 to 20, the crew from the entries will have opportunities to take part in a training camp.

Film industry professionals will be invited to host cultural salons and exchange with the young filmmakers. Chinese filmmaker Zhang Jianya will chair the jury panel. The awards ceremony will be held on August 20. Outstanding works will have a chance to be screened at cinemas.

According to the organizers, the competition received 1,369 entries last year from young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

For submissions, online application is available on: www.shxfuture.com/mainland/index.aspx.
