Zhong, 83, a renowned respiratory specialist and an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was the head of the investigation team for the COVID-19 outbreak of the National Health Commission at the time.

May 6: 12th graders from 121 high schools in Wuhan return to classrooms to prepare for the college entrance examination. As of May 11, more than 100 million students have resumed classes in Chinese schools, accounting for 39 percent of all students nationwide, from kindergartens to universities.
