China and Britain will continue to deepen bilateral cooperation in financial services, trade, investment and other fields after Brexit, Chinese Ambassador to Britain Liu Xiaoming has said.

Liu made the remarks on Friday during the Donation Ceremony of China-UK Charity Initiative: Love Leads Us Forward Hand in Hand.

"When Brexit is done and COVID-19 is over, China and the UK will continue deepening cooperation in areas such as financial services, trade and investment," Liu said.

"We will be working to safeguard the unobstructed global industrial and supply chains," he said. "And this will help both of us in getting our respective economies back on track again."

"Since the outbreak (of the COVID-19), our two countries have supported each other and engaged in close cooperation," he said. "The business communities of both countries have actively donated funds and supplies."

The on-line donation ceremony of the China-UK Charity Initiative was held to help build a medical clinic in underprivileged Daluo Village in southwestern China's Yunnan Province.

This charity project will provide medical and epidemic prevention services to more than 2,400 local villagers, Liu noted. "It is a demonstration of the profound friendship between China and the UK."

"It is a showcase of our joint response to COVID-19," he said. "It is also a vivid illustration of our shared commitment to building a global community of health."
