Floods starting from Tuesday have affected 347,000 people in east China's Jiangxi Province as of 5pm Saturday, according to the provincial emergency management department.

Floods starting from Tuesday have affected 347,000 people in east China's Jiangxi Province as of 5pm Saturday, according to the provincial emergency management department.

Jiangxi has relocated 8,601 people after heavy rains lashed the province. The direct economic loss has reached 280 million yuan (US$39.62 million).

A total of 22,700 hectares of crops have been affected in the province. The provincial agriculture and rural affairs department has allocated more than 30,000 kg of seeds to the regions heavily affected by floods.

The meteorological department forecasts rainstorms will continue to hit the cities of Jingdezhen, Jiujiang and Shangrao on Sunday.
