Hong Kong reports 61 new COVID-19 cases, 2,019 in total

Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection reported 61 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, including 58 local infections and three imported ones, bringing the total cases to 2,019 in Hong Kong.

Out of the 58 local infections, 33 are related to previously confirmed cases, while the sources of infection of the other 25 cases remain unknown, Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the CHP's Communicable Disease Branch said at a media briefing on Tuesday afternoon.

Chuang said the infections with unknown sources involved people from all walks of life.

According to Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, two new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 14.

As of Tuesday noon, 1,323 patients with confirmed infections had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, while 609 confirmed patients are currently hospitalized in 14 hospitals, including 29 in critical condition and 11 in serious condition, the authority said.
