An asymptomatic coronavirus carrier in the Chinese city of Qingdao was discharged from hospital on Saturday, the municipal health commission said Sunday.

The carrier is one of the two stevedores who had handled imported frozen seafood at the port of Qingdao and were diagnosed as asymptomatic COVID-19 cases on September 24. The other carrier was diagnosed as a confirmed case on October 14.

During their isolated observation at the Qingdao Chest Hospital, the two stevedores underwent CT scans in the hospital's CT room.

Inadequate disinfection in the CT room led to the new cluster of COVID-19 infections in Qingdao, where a total of 13 new confirmed cases had been reported by Thursday, according to the provincial health commission of Shandong.

Qingdao has completed a citywide nucleic acid testing covering all its 11 million residents and no new positive cases were reported.
