A Chinese woman has died weeks after being shot in an armed robbery in Pakistan, the China embassy there announced on Sunday.

Three armed gangsters attacked a villa rented by a group of Chinese people in the G10 residential district of Islamabad, the country's capital, about 6pm local time on December 29, the embassy said.

The woman was receiving emergency treatment and her condition had stabilized for some time, but she died on January 12 after her health deteriorated due to a blood infection.

The suspects are still at large and the embassy has asked local authorities to investigate the case. The embassy has also reminded Chinese people in Pakistan to remain alert to the increasing number of break-in robberies and terrorist attacks in the city.
