A Chinese distilled liquor (also known as baijiu) tasting party on Friday night took the stage at the headquarters of the United Nations, featuring baijiu from King's Luck, a famous Chinese brewery.

More than 100 guests from the UN's various offices, local entrepreneurs, celebrities and media representatives took part in the party. Guoyuan, the displayed baijiu brand, impressed the guests a great deal with its strong alcohol and unique flavor.

Alexander Zuev, assistant secretary-general for Rule of Law and Security Institutions, said he hoped that Chinese baijiu would raise its speed of internationalization, so that more Westerners could "experience this unique charm."

The party at the United Nations hosted by King's Luck was accord with the trend of economic globalization, and it could promote Chinese baijiu to an international level, said Zuev, adding that a party like this also helped promote cultural exchanges between the East and the West.

Sherwin Bryce-Pease, president of the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA), expressed his gratitude to King's Luck for attending the gala dinner to celebrate the UNCA's 70th anniversary.

"There is an old Chinese saying 'it is a pleasure to have friends coming from afar,'" Bryce-Pease said, adding it is respectful for King's Luck, an enterprise from east China, to travel thousands of miles to the United Nations to promote Chinese baijiu culture.
