ISS astronauts safely return to Earth

A multinational team of three astronauts on board Russia's Soyuz MS-12 spacecraft safely returned to Earth on Thursday, after completing their mission on the International Space Station.

Alexei Ovchinin of Russia, NASA's Nick Hague and Hazzaa Ali Almansoori of the United Arab Emirates landed in Kazakhstan at 2pm Moscow time (1100 GMT), Russian state space corporation Roscosmos said in a statement.

Ovchinin and Hague were brought to the ISS on March 15, after a failed launch of their mission in October 2018 when they had to make an emergency landing shortly after liftoff due to carrier rocket malfunction.

Almansoori, the first space traveler from the UAE, arrived at the ISS on Sept. 25 for a short-term visit.

Roscosmos astronauts Alexander Skvortsov and Oleg Skripochka, NASA astronauts Christina Koch, Jessica Meir and Andrew Morgan, as well as European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano continue working in orbit.
