The Spanish government extended the closure of its borders until June 15, the State Bulletin confirmed on Friday.

The only people able to enter Spain are habitual residents of the country or residents of other European Union and Schengen nations who are traveling to their homes.

Health professionals and cross-border workers are also allowed to cross the border, along with those who can present documents showing they are traveling due to a situation of need or force majeure.

The Spanish government has designated five airports as entry points for travelers, namely, Barcelona's El Prat airport, Madrid-Barajas airport, Malaga-Costa del Sol airport, Gran Canaria airport and Palma de Mallorca airport, along with the ports of Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Valencia and Vigo.

Earlier this week, the Spanish government imposed a 14-day quarantine on all travelers who arrive in Spain from another country.

As one of the countries hit worst by COVID-19, Spain has largely brought the outbreak under control and has eased lockdown restrictions in most areas of the country since this week.
