French driver Jean-Eric Vergne claimed his first Formula E win in Montreal, Canada, on Monday, which was also the maiden victory for the China-registered Techeetah Formula E team.

It was also the last stop of the 2016-17 Formula E season. Having secured the team’s 10th Super Pole appearance of the year earlier in the day, Vergne delivered a drama-free victory and built on the back-to-back double podiums the team has delivered on consecutive weekends. His teammate Stephane Sarrazin had a more eventful race after he spun out at the first corner on the opening lap. He fought back to eighth position. The victory put Techeetah fifth in the team standing on 156 points in its debut season. The team, owned by Chinese Sports promoter SECA, secured a total of seven podiums this season. The Renault e.Dams team successfully defended its team championship title.
