Shanghai International Popular Sports Festival held in Minhang
The Shanghai International Popular Sports Festival and the First International Friends Games were held at the Shanghai American School in Minhang District’s Huacao Town over the weekend.
The sports festival featured students from more than 10 international schools, as well as residents of international communities around the city. Former modern pentathlon world champion Qian Zhenhua and his wife, Chinese swimming national team member Pang Jiaying, also attended the festival.
The International Friends Games saw participants take part in running and canoeing competitions as a family unit, as well as in activities featuring traditional Chinese culture like dragon-lion dance.
Jointly organized by the Shanghai Sports Bureau and the Shanghai Sports Federation, the twin events were also part of the 2017 Shanghai Citizens’ Amateur League.
Former modern pentathlon world champion Qian Zhenhua takes part in one of the Shanghai International Popular Sports Festival events.
