Summer camp gathers young footballers from around the country

A draw was held during the opening ceremony of the 2018 SIPG FC Cup Youth Training Summer Camp at Guojin Sports Center in Putuo District on Friday evening.

2018 SIPG FC Cup Youth Training Summer Camp kicked off at Guojin Sports Center this week, featuring 46 teams from around the country.

The 46 teams are selected from Shanghai SIPG’s 31 youth training bases. A total of 573 young footballers, as well as their 88 coaches, will exchange skills in group stage and knockout rounds during the eight-day camp.

Footballers in the 11-12 age group will take part in eight-to-eight competitions, while those aged 9 and 10 will follow the five-to-five format. Football carnival activities will also be arranged.

Shanghai SIPG started setting up youth training bases around the country from 2015 in cooperation with local schools, associations and youth football organizations. Young talent will be given the chance to join SIPG’s reserve team.
