A Youth Mini Tennis Challenge tournament is being held at Luwan Sports Center’s indoor tennis court from September 22 to 24, featuring 128 young players aged from 8 to 12.

As a series event for the 2018 Rolex Shanghai Masters which will be held in Minhang’s Qizhong Tennis Center starting from October 6, the challenge aims at encouraging the younger generation to take part in the sport. The boy and girl winners of the three-day tournament will be given the opportunity to play tennis together with Roger Federer at the Rolex Shanghai Masters’ Family Day on October 6.

Mini tennis is designed for children who play on a court about one-third the size of a normal tennis court. The challenge copied Rolex Shanghai Masters’ format – a 64-entry knockout competition for boys and girls respectively. Shanghai Tennis Association sent a professional referee team for the tournament.
