A promotional event "Run, Shanghai" was held in the North Bund on May 16 to mark the 10th anniversary of the IAAF Diamond League in Shanghai.

Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva and American hurdler David Oliver, both outstanding competitors in past events, were invited to take part along with Chinese hurdler Feng Zhiqiang.

They called out the slogan "Shanghai, Let's meet!" in a relay with local runners as an invitation to global track and field amateurs and city residents to take part.

The 2019 IAAF Diamond League will be held at Shanghai Stadium tomorrow. The meet will have 16 events — nine for men (100, 200, 400 and 5,000 meters, 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, high jump, long jump and javelin) and seven for women (100, 400, 1,500, 3,000 steeplechase, pole vault, shot put and javelin).

Russian world champion hurdler Sergey Shubenkov and Rio Olympics long jump silver medalist Luvo Manyonga from South Africa will take part in the games.
