The Chinese Basketball Association has denied a rumor which said that national team head coach Li Nan had resigned following China's poor performance at the recent FIBA Basketball World Cup.

As the hosts of the tournament, China only ranked the 24th place with two wins and three defeats, and failed to directly qualify for next year's Tokyo Olympic games. Calls for Li's resignation had been loud from a number of fans and the 44-year-old was reportedly sent his resignation to the General Administration of Sport of China on Wednesday.

However, the CBA immediately denied the rumor on its Weibo account saying that, "News of Li's resigning is not true, currently the CBA and the China Basketball Team are doing evaluating and concluding work. Further adjustment of the coaching team will be announced after that. Thanks to everyone for their concern and support."
