The 2019 SHKP Vertical Run was held at the Shanghai International Financial Center in Pudong on Sunday morning.

A total of 1,700 runners, including 22 elite international athletes invited by the organizers, participated in the charity event. They had to climb the 1,460 steps to reach the finish line on the 57th floor of the landmark building.

Australian runner Mark Bourne became the men’s elite group champion finishing the climb in 7 minutes and 58 seconds. His compatriot Suzanne Walsham topped the women’s elite group in 9 minutes and 25 seconds.

Other participants included employees from dozens of enterprises in Shanghai, as well as 180 students who took part in a relay competition.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Shanghai Children’s Health Found to cover treatment cost for young patients at the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center.

The 2019 SHKP Vertical Run visits a total of 11 cities around the world, including Beijing, China's Hong Kong, Seoul, Milan, Paris, London, and New York.
