The Chinese city of Tianjin will host the 2022 Four Continents Championships, while the 2023 World Championships has been awarded to Saitama, Japan, the International Skating Union has announced.

The ISU also announced in a statement that three major events will not take place this year "considering the pandemic developments and related impact on the organizers and participants."

The canceled events are the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships (Sydney, Australia), the Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships (Salt Lake City, United States) and the Four Continents Speed Skating Championships (Calgary, Canada).

Tianjin, a port city about 150 kilometers east of Beijing, will be the second city on the Chinese mainland to stage the Four Continents Championships, after it was held in Beijing in 2003.

Japanese city Saitama beat Budapest and Minsk to win the bid to host the World Championships in March 2023.

It will be the eighth time that tournament will be held in Japan. Saitama was also the host of the 2019 edition.
