Thailand’s Wanchana Poruangrong and Prima Thammaraks set the early pace at the Hengqing Phoenix Tree Building Orient Challenge yesterday as each carded opening rounds of 5-under-par 67 in Zhuhai, south China’s Guangdong Province.

Korean Hwang Ye-nah (68) was one shot back at the 500,000-yuan (US$79,000) event, the second tournament of the China LPGA Tour season. China’s Sui Xiang and Liu Yan were equal fourth on 69, tied with Korean Seo Ji-hyun. China’s Du Mohan was the top amateur as the teenager was level seventh after shooting a 2-under 70 at the Phoenix Tree Orient Golf Club.
