Dozens try to lift bus to save trapped boy

Nearly 100 people in Ya'an, Sichuan Province tried to lift a bus to save an 8-year-old boy who was trapped underneath.

The incident happened at 10:47am on July 26, when the boy was going to cross a street to eat some noodles with his mother and grandma. But after the adults crossed the street, they found the boy was not beside them.

When they turned around, they were shocked to see the boy lying under a bus at the zebra crossing, with his right foot stuck under the left front wheel of the vehicle.

The boy cried and shouted for help which attracted dozens of passersby to come to his aid, attempting to lift the bus off his trapped leg.

Though more and more people joined in the effort and tried their best, they still failed to lift the bus which weighs around 11 tons.

Police and firefighters arrived at the scene soon after and freed the boy with special rescue tools.

The boy was rushed to the hospital and his condition is not life-threatening.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by police.
