Woman, 68, robs 91-year-old man of cash

A 68-year-old woman in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province stalked and robbed a 91-year-old man of cash he had just withdrawn from a bank.

The elderly man, surnamed He, was alone when he withdrew a total of 6,500 yuan from the bank at 10am on July 18. He placed the cash into a transparent plastic bag before leaving.

But shortly after he entered the community he lives, a woman suddenly approached from behind and snatched the bag full of cash before making a quick escape.

The man failed to catch up with her and called police.

As the victim was too old to describe the specifics of the incident and the features of the suspect clearly, it took police seven days to finally track her down.

Police finally caught the suspect, surnamed Wang, and recovered the victim’s money at 5pm on July 24.

Wang confessed that she happened to see the elderly man coming out from the bank alone, carrying a bag of money, so she followed him to the community and pounced when nobody else was around.

Further investigation is underway.
