The incident, which was initially said to have taken place in Chengdu, was later found to have taken place in a children's photography studio in Guang'an.

The shop in Yuechi County invited three trainers from a Chengdu training company to instruct its employees from July 27.

During training on July 28, three employees were forced to drink toilet water as punishment after they failed to finish a sales task which involved selling concession cards. After the video circulated online, one of the victims felt furious and aggrieved, and then called police.

One of the shop's managers, surnamed Xie, who was on a business trip when the incident occurred, said he's shocked and angry as the incident has hurt their employees. He hoped the situation would subside as soon as possible.

After an investigation, local police stated on July 31 that one of the trainers, surnamed Xiao, who captured the video and uploaded it to a WeChat group, causing it to be widely spread online, was punished with a 4-day administrative detention.
