Bentley owner offers to pay own repair fees after old man scratches bumper
A Bentley car owner from Suiling in north China’s Heilongjiang Province waived his right of claim from an old man in his sixties who scratched his car while riding on a tricycle on August 5.
The car owner is estimated to shoulder about 80,000 yuan (US$11,935) in repair fees for his Bentley — which is valued at around 3 million yuan — since he understands the tricycle rider lacks the ability to compensate him.
Some netizens praised the car owner as kind and generous, while others felt there was nothing wrong with asking for compensation if it was the cyclist's fault, and that he could learn from the situation and avoid making the same mistake again.
