A video showing the great efforts of rescuers to save a cat that was trapped in the bottom of a car has melted the hearts of Chinese netizens.

A car owner in Shanghai called police after she found a stray cat in her community was stuck in the chassis of her vehicle. Police officers and firefighters soon arrived.

However, though they tried their best, they failed to free the cat because they didn't have the right tools.

Police officers then decided to ask a car repairman for help, who detached the chassis and successfully saved the cat.

The animal injured its leg in the incident.

Jiang Junming, one of the police officers who joined the rescue effort, said, "I'm very happy the cat could be saved — after all, it's a life. From the police's career perspective, if the cat remained stuck in the car and we didn't deal with it, it would also be a hidden hazard to driving safety.”

Chinese netizens applauded the police officers and firefighters for their heart-warming actions and said, "Shanghai is full of love! They are the heroes around us!"
