An 84-year-old woman from Harbin, capital of north China’s Heilongjiang Province, voluntarily sewed cotton cushions on bus stop seats to keep passengers warm as they wait for the bus in the cooling weather.

The old woman, Zhang Guizhen, told The Paper on October 17 that it was no big deal as she was willing to do something to help others during her retirement.

It is the second year that Zhang has helped her fellow citizens keep their backsides warm, although this year she made some improvements on last year's design by adding a layer of foam underneath.

Zhang made use of extra material saved from when she was in the cloth business to make the cushions. She said she would return to clean and fix up worn cushions as a follow-up.
