A driver in Pan'an, Zhejiang Province blocked two lanes for an elderly woman at a zebra crossing on Wednesday after seven other drivers refused to stop and let her cross.

In the footage, the woman can be seen attempting to cross the road as the yellow car pulls up and stops.

However, vehicles in the lane next to the car refused to stop and let the woman cross, even after she motioned to the drivers several times.

The driver of the yellow car then drives to the left, blocking both lanes and finally allowing the woman to cross safely.

Chinese netizens applauded the car driver for his heart-warming behavior after the video was disclosed by the Public Security Bureau of Pan'an County on its official WeChat account, in which seven vehicles and three electric scooters can be seen failing to stop for the pedestrian.

The seven car drivers in the video have each been fined 100 yuan (US$15) and lost three demerit points from their licenses.

According to The Paper, the driver of the yellow car, a man surnamed Luo, is a local in his 20s who has recently graduated and started working.

Traffic police told him that changing lanes on a solid white line is in itself a traffic offense, but decided not to charge him in light of the circumstances.
