Deliveryman directs traffic to help stuck ambulance
A deliveryman from the food delivery platform Meituan took the initiative to direct traffic in order to allow an ambulance to pass during a traffic jam.
The ambulance was stuck in traffic while responding to an emergency in Guangzhou, the capital of south China’s Guangdong Province, on November 13.
The deliveryman, Zeng Jianhua, said he heard the ambulance's siren blaring after he received his first order of the day. He felt he needed to act fast and knew there must be someone waiting for emergency treatment.
Chen Baijian, an emergency department doctor in the ambulance, said the patient they were racing to had suffered from a stroke. Chen rolled down the window and thanked Zeng for his help as they raced past.
With Zeng's help the ambulance was able to get the patient to hospital on time and out of danger.
