Take-away riders from online food delivery platforms will be fired if the riders break traffic rules frequently within three months, based on the information collected by a new mobile app introduced by Shanghai traffic police and four food delivery platforms.

Those who have been deducted 12 points within three months will be required to study the traffic rules again and be re-evaluated while those who lost 36 points will be removed from current posts or fired by the company.

Traffic police will record the real-time violation information on the app by scanning riders’ QR code containing their real identities, including the time and place where the riders break the rules together with an on-spot photo, according to Lu Wei, a traffic police from Pudong branch of Shanghai Public Security Bureau.
