A video showing a grandpa's novel way of keeping track of his triplet grandchildren has gone viral on social media.

In the footage, the man can be seen walking all three children — in matching clothes — on three short leads.

The video was captured in Zhoukou, Henan Province as the grandfather took the three 2-year-old girls to school.

The triplets' mother, surnamed Wang, said the leads, which are linked to the children's schoolbags, were bought to stop the girls from running off.

"One person can't take good care of all the kids when crossing the road — using leads ensures the children are by your side at all times, which is a lot safer," she said.

The cute scene has melted the hearts of Chinese netizens who applauded the grandpa for his wise way of looking after the triplets.

"What a clever grandpa — the leads are very useful," one person commented. "The footage looks funny and I couldn't help but laugh — the triplets are extremely cute."
