Bus driver dies behind the wheel, passenger uninjured

A 48-year-old bus driver in Haikou, Hainan Province died of a sudden heart attack while driving last Saturday, but ensured the safety of his passenger in his last moment.

Before he slumped over on the driver's seat, Chen Haidong hit the brake to stop the bus safely.

The only passenger on-board soon called an ambulance, but when medical staff arrived they found Chen had already lost his vital signs.

Chen's act in his last moment greatly touched Chinese netizens, with one commenting, "Thumbs up for this heroic driver — a timely brake at the critical moment saved the life of others, whether that be passengers or others on the road."
