Taxi driver returns extra money to careless passenger
A taxi driver in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, was finally able to return money to a careless passenger who mistakenly paid her 1,100 yuan (US$173.74) instead of 11 yuan after a four-day search, Knews reported.
The driver, Gao Liping, discovered the mistake when she tallied up after work last Tuesday evening. She found someone had mistakenly paid her 1,100 yuan for their taxi fare via WeChat.
The passenger was a young man in his 20s who took her taxi from Shaanxi Province Stadium to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, she recalled.
She tried various ways to locate the man, including reporting the incident to her company and looking for him online.
After four days, she finally found the passenger, surnamed Zhao, and returned 1,089 yuan to him.
Zhao said he was in such a hurry that day that he entered the wrong amount when settling his fare. He didn't ask the driver for a receipt which meant he was unable to contact her later.
He was greatly moved by the taxi driver's efforts to find him.
