19 Meituan deliverymen punished for promotional stunt

A total of 19 deliverymen from food delivery platform Meituan have been punished for occupying a fast lane as part of a promotional activity in Fuyang, Anhui Province, on April 10, thepaper.cn reported.

As a viral video showed, a motorcade of deliverymen dressed in yellow uniforms flooded the fast lane as part of the promotional stunt.

According to an initial investigation, local police confirmed the situation and also summoned the manager from the company on the same afternoon. Each of the 19 deliveryman have been fined 50 yuan (US$8) for violating traffic rules.

Meituan made an official apology on April 11 for disturbing the traffic and causing noise when interviewed by The Paper.
