Boy shocks class with meter-long bamboo shoot

A boy at a kindergarten in Wenling, Zhejiang Province, shocked his teacher and classmates when he took a meter-long bamboo shoot to class, as part of his science homework, Xinhua news agency reported.

It's wasn't quite what the teacher had expected when asking every child to bring a bamboo shoot to school for a science class. 

Most of the children came to school with smaller bamboo shoots, but one student unexpectedly took a bamboo shoot over 1 meter in length, shocking the whole class.

A photo of him holding the bamboo shoot in class went viral online.

The boy's parents explained that they recently dug out the super-sized bamboo shoot, so they let their son take it to class. As it was too long for the boy to hold by himself, they even helped him take it to school.
