Driver straps 9 huge tubes to trusty Santana in hopes of saving freight costs
A cheeky driver from Taicang City in Jiangsu Province strapped nine large plastic tubes to the sides of his car to save on freight charges, thepaper.cn reported.
As CCTV footage showed, the trusty Santana had six plastic tubes strapped on one side and three on the other, with its trunk wide open to allow the 5-meter-long tubes to bend slightly at the back.
Witnesses said it looked almost like an armored vehicle from a distance.
The driver crawled out of his car window after he was stopped by traffic police as he prepared to pass a crossroad.
He argued that he was driving slowly to ensure safety, and that his main reason for strapping the long tubes to his Santana was so save on expensive transportation fees.
It is unknown if the man's fine exceeds the amount it would have cost him to freight the tubes with a transport company.
