Girl rescued after falling into narrow gap between train and platform

A 2-year-old girl was rescued by railway police and other passengers after she fell into a narrow gap between a train and the platform at a railway station in Xiamen, Fujian Province on April 29, Knews reported.

The family of the girl were lingering on the platform at Xiamen Railway Station before they got on the train heading to Beijing, which was due to depart 10 minutes later.

While running beside the train, the little girl slipped and fell from the 1.5-meter-high platform between the train.

Railway police arrived immediately and rescued the girl with the help of other passengers within about two minutes.

Chinese netizens criticized the girl's guardians for being careless and irresponsible, with one commenting, "They shouldn't allow the girl to walk around alone — I hope they learn a lesson from this!"
