A doctor in east China held a granny in his arms and carried her up and down a flight of stairs for a check-up, Knews reported.

The 96-year-old woman went to a township health center in Suining, Jiangsu Province, to see a doctor on April 29.

She was then asked to go to the second floor for a further check-up. However, the 23 steps in front of the elderly woman proved too daunting, forcing her to stop.

As her fellow family member was not strong enough to carry her upstairs, a doctor passing by, Chen Bin, immediately picked the woman up and carried her upstairs.

Chen didn't leave the inspection room until the woman had finished her check-up, carrying her downstairs again once she was done.

His heart-warming act touched the hearts of Chinese netizens, who applauded him for his kindness.

But the humble man said in an interview that other people in their hospital would have done the same thing.

"We always try our best to provide good service to the patients and help them receive check-ups and treatment as soon as possible."
