Schoolgirl picks up garlic skins scattered by Metro passenger
A girl has won the hearts of Chinese netizens after a video showing her kind act on a subway train went viral recently, but she wasn't keen on becoming well-known for her act.
The incident happened inside a carriage on Tianjin's Metro Line 3 on May 7, Shanghai Morning Post reported.
In the footage, a male passenger can be seen randomly picking garlic while seated.
Then a schoolgirl bent down and picked up all the skins scattered on the ground without saying a word.
Her kind act received countless "likes" from Chinese netizens who applauded her for her "good quality" and the positive energy she has spread.
The girl, surnamed Meng, is an eighth-grader from Tianjin No. 21 High School. She recalled that when she was waiting to get off the train at around 5pm, she noticed that a man in his 60s was peeling garlic while eating, throwing the skins on the carriage floor.
She said she didn't think too much but felt the garbage damaged the tidiness in the carriage, which would affect the image of the city. As she was about to get off, she picked up the skins and held them in her hand.
When she was collecting the skins, the man who threw them on the ground told her she didn't need to pick them up as "someone will clean the carriage soon."
When asked, Meng didn't feel excited about becoming an Internet sensation. "I just did what my parents have taught me,"she added.
