Police officer smashes car sunroof to save driver trapped in flooding
A police officer in south China smashed a car sunroof to save a driver who was trapped in flooding amid heavy rain.
The rainstorm hit Fanyu District of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province on June 8, causing flooding in some areas, The Beijing News reported.
A driver, who tried to pass through the heavy water, became stuck after the engine of her car suddenly stalled and wouldn't start again.
The woman, surnamed Jing, couldn't get out of the car and began to panic as water began to fill the car. At the critical moment an auxiliary police officer, He Xiwen, rushed to help.
He climbed onto the car and smashed the sunroof with a stone he picked up nearby.
After he pulled the driver out he held her in his arms and took her to safety through the water.
Chinese netizens gave the policeman a "thumbs up" for saving a life.
