A traffic policeman in east China jumped into a fleeing car to force the driver, who was trying to escape inspection, to stop, Dezhou Evening News reported.

After initial examination, the blood-alcohol level of the driver, surnamed Lou, was 35mg per 100ml, which is considered drunk driving. He has already been detained for disrupting public order.

As a video shot by a witness showed, the white car was driving in all directions in a populated square in Dezhou City of Shandong Province. A traffic policeman seized the moment to open the passenger door and jumped into the car to try and make the driver stop.

The policeman, Zhang Jie, chased the car and signaled it to stop before he jumped in. Zhang said he pulled out the key after the driver showed no sign of stopping.

Lou, the driver, said he was very frightened when he recalled the incident and regretted what he did.
