As a video shot by a witness showed, two girls leaned against a balcony security window on the second floor of the burning building in Huzhou of Zhejiang Province and kept crying.

Zhang Peng, a 21-year-old man who lived nearby, climbed onto the balcony with the help of other residents who acted as a ladder to help him up. They rescued the girls before fire fighters arrived and put the fire out.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
