College graduates invite courier to perform at graduation party
Graduates from the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing invited a deliveryman to perform a song at their graduation party, thepaper.cn reported.
Up to 400 people attended the party that night, exceeding the expectations of organizers who planned for an audience of around 250, forcing many to stand.
A student surnamed Hong, president of the Student Union from the College of Social Work and also one of the party organizers, told the website that they wanted to create a special memory to conclude their time at college.
Hong said it wasn't just teachers and classmates who contributed to their four years of college life — a "support crew" including couriers and print shop staff were also key.
Zhen Jie, a courier from Zhongtong Express who has been in charge of the delivery service at the university for five or six years, said he felt a bit astonished at first when he received an invitation to sing at the event, although he thought it was interesting.
He said he felt as a loss when the students graduated as he would miss seeing them every day.
