Female staff at gas station stop man from igniting pump
Two quick-minded female staff members of a gas station in east China stopped a man who attempted to ignite a gas pump over a family conflict.
The heart-stopping moment happened in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province on June 27, Knews reported.
A man who went to the gas station to fill up his car had a quarrel with a family member and became irate.
Xu Xiaofang, chief of the gas station, tried to pacify the situation after hearing the argument but failed to calm the man down.
He suddenly rushed to a gas pump and threatened to set it alight.
At that time, Xu and another employee, Shu Yan, rushed to snatch the pump from the man and successfully defused the situation.
In just six seconds, they ensured the safety of onlookers as well as the gas station.
Xu said in an interview, "I had no time to think too much. The only thing I could think was that I must grab that pump back, otherwise the consequences would be too ghastly to contemplate."
Police are now investigating the case.
