Takeaway deliveryman reports dodgy food outfits

A take-away deliveryman from Qinhuangdao city in Hebei Province reported unhygienic food businesses to the media that he came across when picking up deliveries, Knews reported.

Reporters located several unqualified food businesses in a residential complex after following clues provided by the deliveryman. According to him, some "restaurant" owners even lived where they prepared food. 

Several deliverymen could be seen waiting outside residential buildings to pick up take-away food in the city’s Mengying Residential Quarter. The locations where food was prepared were not commercial premises and they were suspected of failing sanitation standards.

Some names of the “restaurants” on business licenses were inconsistent with the names registered on food delivery platforms, while others lacked food licenses or health certificates for their cooks.

One manager from Meituan, surnamed Zhao, said they has already removed some businesses from the platform. The city’s food safety watchdog urged the food delivery service to overhaul non-standard food businesses.
