Metro staffer opens arms to protect elderly passenger on escalator
A thoughtful Metro staff member in central China opened his arms to escort an elderly passenger when she took an escalator alone, btime.com reported.
The heart-warming moment happened at a station on Yangluo Line in Wuhan, Hubei Province, on July 20.
The staffer, Zheng Ruimeng, saw a passenger in her 80s walking very slowly in the station hall alone.
To ensure her safety, Zheng decided to accompany her out of the station.
He encouraged her to take an elevator instead of the escalator, but the granny failed to hear his suggestion.
He then walked after her all the way. After she stepped on the escalator, he soon stood behind her, opening his arms to avoid any accident.
The granny said "thank you" before leaving the station.
Zheng suggested family members of such elderly passengers accompany them to ensure their safety.
Chinese netizens highly applauded Zheng for his kindness, with one commenting, "They're not just two arms, but the wings of an angel."
