Firefighter hero saves boy dangling from building

A 7-year-old boy was alone at home when he fell from a window and got stuck in a drying rack.

An off-duty firefighter in east China saved a boy dangling from a laundry rack on the fifth floor of his apartment building on September 20, Modern Express reported.

The 7-year-old was home alone when he climbed onto the balcony of his family's apartment in Rugao, Jiangsu Province, and fell out of the window, getting his head stuck between the rails of the drying rack.

Tightly holding onto the rack, he shouted for help. Firefighter Qiu Chunjie, 39, who was passing by, immediately ran up to the fifth floor and reached the stricken boy by climbing over from the next door neighbor's balcony.

Heart-stopping footage circulated online shows Qiu walking slowly on the drying racks attached to the side of the building before finally reaching the boy and pulling him to safety. The boy only suffered minor abrasions to his ears in the incident.
