Former nurse risks her life to save injured
A former nurse from Jilin Province risked her own life to aid three people injured in a car accident on an expressway, Xinhua news agency reported.
Yang Lin and her mother were driving on the Xinlu Expressway heading to Tongliao in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on September 15 when they came across the accident.
Yang, a medical school graduate who once worked as a nurse, rushed to help even though her mother tried to stop her as the vehicle was already in flames.
After attending to the first injured man, she strapped up another man's broken leg.
Another injured man, nearest to the burning car, was suffering severe pains in the chest and abdomen which Yang thought was internal bleeding.
To prevent him losing consciousness, Yang kept him talking until an ambulance arrived.
Yang's mother called out to her to come back several times, but Yang would run to give her a hug and then return to the scene to go on with her rescue.
Yang, who lost her father at the age of 15, said she could understand her mother's worry but saving the injured was an instinctive reaction.
