Police in Hangzhou, capital of east China’s Zhejiang Province, arrested a man suspected of fraud as he left a screening of "Avengers: Endgame" in the early hours of April 24, thepaper.cn reported.

Liu, 32, was detained by police waiting outside the cinema who had been informed that Liu would go to the movie with his girlfriend on that day. 

Police waited until after the movie in order not to disrupt other movie goers.

According to the police, Liu took 300,000 yuan (US$44,500) and 100,000 yuan from two women he met through an online dating platform.

"Avengers: Endgame" continued to top the Chinese mainland box office on Monday, according to China Movie Data Information Network.
