Saudis urge crude oil cooperation

Saudi Energy Minister Khaled al-Faleh talks to journalists during the 7th Meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee in Muscat yesterday. Petrochemical sector gushes in profit

PetroChina’s logo is seen at its petrol station in Beijing. Profit of China’s petrochemical industry in 2017 grew at the fastest pace in six years, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation said yesterday. The sector’s 2017 profit is estimated to exceed 850 billion yuan (US$132 billion), an increase of 30 percent. Revenue from core operations totaled 14.5 trillion yuan last year, up 12.5 percent. The petrochemical industry has been hindered by overcapacity along with security and environmental constraints.
