Visitors can experience the latest automotive technologies and car models at the Shanghai Pudong International Automotive Exhibition, which is being held from Monday until October 4.

Around 1,000 cars from nearly 100 brands are showcased at this year's exhibition, including new models, innovations in new-energy propulsion, autonomous driving and other emerging trends.

Among the event's major exhibitors are Jaguar Land Rover, Porsche and Tesla, as well as domestic automakers like SAIC Motor, Geely and NIO.

Organizers said that the exhibition plays a pivotal role in the east China automotive market. This year is the fifth exhibition, which is held every two years.

This year's event has a further mission of "gathering industry forces, boosting consumer confidence and promoting economic development," according to organizers. "It serves as a high-quality platform for exchanges and cooperation in the post-epidemic era as well as a good opportunity for consumers to learn about the world's latest car technologies and achievements."

The exhibition is part of events in Shanghai for the national Consumption Promotion Month. Shanghai is organizing activities to further promote consumption, aiming for a new round of spending in the second half of the year.

The show will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center and cover a total area of 100,000 square meters.
